About the destination: Erfurt is the capital of the German state of Thüringen. It was an important trading town during the Middle Ages, and has many beautiful old buildings and parks. The city centre is quite compact so walking is often the best way to explore the city. Much of Erfurt's charm is found in its narrow streets, many of which are pedestrianized, with their beautiful old houses, green areas and little bridges across the Gera River and the Stadtpark and the Nordpark on different sides of the city centre. The most important sites to see in Erfurt are: - Dom (Cathedral) and Severi Kirche (Church) both overlooking the Domplatz (main market square, location of the Christmas market in December as well as fairs throughout the year). - Krämerbrücke (Bridge with medieval houses, the most important landmark in Erfurt) - Fischmarkt with its Burgerhouses and town hall. - Augustinerkloster (monastery where Martin Luther lived), the main gate of the old university (third oldest German university, shut down in the 19th century and reopened in 1992) - Anger (Main Square, full of stores) with the old Post Office building. - Petersberg Citadel (a historical defence system and a great lookout over the city) - Old Synagogue Oldest surviving European Synagogue, today a museum that has an impressive collection of 14th century Jewish jewellery.

About the destination: Ceské Budejovice is the administrative, cultural and economic centre of Southern Bohemia. The Czech king Premysl Otakar II founded the town at the confluence of Malse and Vltava rivers. Everyone knows the German name of this town, Budweis, for one reason: beer. Beer is still their top attraction, but this town is much more than just beer. There are many historic monuments and museums and it is a pleasant city to unwind in. The architecture and atmosphere of the old town and city centre is very charming. Medieval ground plan of the historical city centre with rectangular grid of streets has been preserved up till today. Long rows of arcades, renaissance, baroque and classicism houses and partly preserved fortifications are the most interesting sights in the old town. The heart of Ceské Budejovice is the large market square. Přemysl Otakar II Square, one of the most beautiful squares in the Czech Republic, is almost a perfect square in shape and is surrounded on all sides by Baroque burgher houses with arcades. At this square you will find the Samson fountain as well as the town hall, the most beautiful building in the square. The main church of the old town was built in the 17th century, it is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of the merchants. His statue stands above the middle portal. The Black Tower is the landmark of the city. It dates from the 16th century and withstood the devastating fire that destroyed most of the city in 1641. If you feel energetic you can climb the tower's 225 stairs and enjoy the fabulous view over the city from the gallery. Since 1992, the historic center of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Prague's city center is a museum of 900 years' of architecture, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, 19th-century revivals of all of them, and Art Nouveau remain amazingly undisturbed by the 20th century. Prague is truly an architectural delight.
